Hey I had a question on LimeWire - when I click "download" it tells me there's no licence and if I want to download anyway. I live in the Seattle district... are their any rules or copyrights on downloading from that particular program? Any way I can find out? -Thanks

There are plenty of rules. I do not condone copyright infringement but I also do not agree with what the RIAA and MPAA are doing to the average person. 1. It is illegal to download copyrighted material. 2. If you are going to do so you should not openly share your files with others. There have been individual lawsuits filled against individuals for music files. One such person was a 10 year old girl. If you are going to do it anyway I recommend that you do not share, move your files out of your shared folder in Lime wire. And for safety use a program such as peer Guardian. This program stops known law enforcement and industry I.P numbers from connecting to your computer. Be safe and arm yourself. Anyone interested in safe use of peer to peer network sharing should read up on the subject. My favorite source of info is a magazine called Maximum PC.

The reason Limewire sends that message is to protect themselves. It is a way for them not to be found 'liable' in case of someone decides to sue. Let me put it this way.......what they are saying is......ok, this material is copyrighted so if you chose to download it, it is not our fault. I use limewire and never had a problem. Dont worry about it. Good luck

Well, it depends on what you're downloading. If it requires a license, then it is probably considered "pirating". (as most stuff on Limewire is....)

It's not restricting your downloads or anything, it's simply warning you.
