Focus on protein and veggies. If you are not eating meat, where will your protein coming from? Your muscles unless you get it from another source. Alternate sources of protein are nuts, couscous (in the pasta or ethnic section at the grocer), beans, hummus and eggs.
You will also need plenty of green veggies like spinach (great on sandwiches instead of lettuce) and broccolli (a great snack with a dip). Research online for proteins and recipes, but making sure there are hard boiled eggs that you can add to a salad or peanut butter around that you can make a sandwich will help you get the protein you will lose by not eating meat. Vegetarian Chili can be delicious and something the whole family will love.
Do yourself a favor and stay away from soy protein. It seems like a good idea, but it is not. It is very estrogenic and bad for your health.
Peace!

Technically, you only have to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent. If you're giving up meat all together, more power to ya! I can understand your situation with your mom though. Mine used to be the same way lol. Instead of giving up meat, why not do some other form of penance? Spend 10 - 15 minutes in prayer each day or something like that.

Instead of having to make a seperate meal for yourself, maybe you could just double up on the sides that your mom fixes with the family meal. Your mom should be proud that you are willing to make such a sacrifice, there aren't too many people that give things up for Lent these days. Make sure that you take some kind of multi vitamin so your body still gets everything it needs that you would normally be getting from a well balanced diet. Good Luck!

Does your mom make ONLY meat? If there are veggies, bread, and fruit at the meal just eat those. Ask if you can scramble some eggs or make yourself a salad. Or maybe your mom feels that you should eat some meat. Not sure how old you are or if your health is ok. Need more info.

encourage your family to observe the lenten diet. However, abstinence from meat is only required of you on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday (this includes fasting on those days). Friday abstinence is highly encouraged but not mandatory. You can do other acts of penance aside from abstaining from meat on Fridays. You don't have to refrain from meat the entire 40 days of Lent. Only the 2 days I mentioned. God bless.

You're only required to abstain from meat on Fridays during Lent. How about asking your mother if this would be an acceptable compromise, and offering to cook dinner on those nights?

Friday is the only day that you are supposed to abstain from eating meat. There should not be a problem. Have your mom fix fish on that day or have pasta.

if you mom said no, then you should listen to her but if you really think that you should give up meat then you should talk to her about it. dont argue with her cuz she is ur mom and you need to respect her but just talk to her like an adult and tell her how you will make your own meals and maybe do some research on it to back it up.

Perfect obedience.
You don't have to give up food for Lent. You can give up something that would hurt to give up. For instance, TV or computer.
Remember, Sunday is not considered Lent.

How old are you? Maybe if you promise to make you own meals and clear up it would be OK
