I am interested in purchasing a new camera. I currently have a Canon PowerShot A75 (with 3.2 mega pixels and 10x zoom), and I would like to upgrade to something better.

I enjoy taking pictures of family, and general "kodak moments", but it is also considered a hobby to where I will go out to nature preserves with my daughter and take some of her, other people, animals, and nature.

There are currently three different cameras I am deciding between and thought I would search out some opinions on which one would be the best of the three. I want something not too difficult to use, with many options, I love really good zoom options!!

Here are the three:

Canon Powershot S3-IS it has 6 mega pixels and 12x zoom.

Sony DSCH2 also has 6 mp. and 12x zoom

Finally, Kodak Easy Share 7612, this one has 6.1 mp. and 12x zoom

So, all you camera lovers and intellects, please let me know which would be the better choice.

Thanks!!

Either the Canon S3 or the Sony H2 (or H5 for a bigger screen) are the better choices. Each has a slight edge or 2 for a particular capability, but are overall very similar. Each has image stabilization, and is capable of using add-on lenses for more telephoto, wide angle or closeup.

Go and hold each one and take some pics in the store. They each have a different "feel", and that might make the choice for you.

I have the Sony H1 and am very pleased with the results. My daughter has the Canon S2, and is also happy with that one. This type of camera is great for flexibility and quality images.

Checkout this website for some great insight into how you can use these cameras. The Whitepaper was originally written for the Sony H1, but the techniques described apply to all these cameras.

Good Luck

I can only tell you what I know. I own the Sony DSC_H2 and love it. It has image stabilizer also. Makes excellent 8X10s when enlarged. Vey good on batteries. Only 1 second delay between shots, can be bought for about $300. I paid $41 too much. Hope I helped a little; but yes go for the DSC-H2. MOST of the people on this Website swear by Canon. Go with the Sony.
You might consider Canon PowerShot S2 IS or camera I bought my daughter which she loves the FugiFilm FinePix S5200. I paid $238 for it at 5 megapixels, and 10X optical zoom.

Definatly no to Kodak. Kodak is a shame to all digital cameras. Never buy one, I have never liked them it cost me a lot and they shoot like cr@p.

The S3 will give you a crisper shot but nosier since Sony has added Noise Reduction firmware on the camera which makes the imagines soft. The Canon S3 has built IS which will help you when your doing hand held shots. There will be no really difference between the two but I would recommond the Canon S3IS because it uses SD memory cards while the Sony DSCH2 forces you to use Sony's DuoStick memory cards which cost an arm and a leg.

i suggest u go for the canon powershot S3-IS its a much better camera choice out of these three...It is easy to use and have good quality pictures... Canon cameras are reali value of their worth. The S3 also has an IS. Canon camera are also less noise than the other camera makes...

Do nt go for kodak digi cameras...They are a waste of time and money..
Sony is alrite, just tat its a bit noisy on the zoom...
