One thing to try is to find something that settles him down and grabs his attention. Even children with ADHD usually have something that will grab their attention. If you can find that "thing", try to associate it with his daily routines. An example would be if cars interested him, help him with his homework one night and use cars to explain how things work, get him a car toothbrush, etc etc etc... As for friends, that's a difficult part. Look around and there might be some local support groups for parents in your situation. They would be able to help you out more than most of us online. Good luck.

My first question to you would be have you tried more than one medicationa dn have you tried therapy? My son is now 14 and taking Adderall, before this we tried Ritalin and Concerta and neither ones of those worked. I was ready to choke him, but then we saw a therapist and the therapist showed me ways to handle the stress he was causing and we tried the new medication and now I think I have a totally different kid. He is doing great in school, honor role, playing the sax and making lots of friends. Don't get me wrong we still have our days and sometimes we both loose our temper at each other but we always try to find a way to work it out. ADHD kids are not big on being punished or spanked they do not care about these, I have found out with my son the longer I try to work things out with him or help him, and it's not easy sometimes, the more he listens and cooperates. But I would definately try another medication, there are numerous ones out there. Concerta, Ritalin, Adderall, Straterra. Ask your doctors if one of these could help. There is a psychologist by the name of Jerry Bosse, 314-275-7600, he was a great help to us. I wish you both all the best and it will get easier I promise.

What country are you in. My cousin has something, but I don't know what. They didn't get him diagnosed because they didn't want him 'filling the shoes of what the doctors expect from him'. Instead they took him to AVENA. They do all natural tests, by talking, irridology, checking your pressure points, etc. Then they tell you your food sensitives and all sorts of things. My mom apparetnly had cancer that was so early the doctors couldn't detect it. Whether that is true or not I don't know.. but she believes it. She took the health supplemetns and is very healthy and feels so much better then she did before she went there. She swears by them. And so my auntie took my cousin to AVENA as he had school problems and attenion an hyper and so many other active symptoms. At AVENA they did their tests and put him on all natural supplements and powders. My aunt also got him new glasses (grades can be alot about how well you see to read) and she homeschooled him. Either way, my aunt swears by AVENA too.. Her son is much calmer and is doing really well now with his grades. he is still active.. but is much calmer and listens way better and he takes only natural, no chemical products...

My son has ADHD, and it was trial and error discovering the right medicine and dosage. If you are dead set against medication, you can try giving your son coffee. Cream is ok, but avoid the sugar! That worked temporarily for my son, but it will only last for a few hours. Also, avoid any foods with sweeteners, preservatives, and red dye in them. There was recently a study regarding food sensitivities, and this particular dye caused issues. Another article I read touted nutritional therapy. Apparently B vitamins, essential fatty acids, zinc, amino acids may be managed, without the adverse affects of stimulants. I also find that getting my son involved in extracurricular sports helped a lot. Good luck

well, maybe he isnt ADHD. my mom had the same problem with me.and come to find out i wasnt ADHD. so the medicine made me sick and etc..... so all i can say is take him to a privite school, and let him stay in that private school and within 1 year they will have him acting like diffrent child. you wont have no problems out of him. my mom said my brother was like that and it helped him (he is 20 now). dont give him the medicine if problems still is happening after taking the medicine. you can always have the doctor give him other medicines. ~**good luck and best wishes**~

I am not a doc Got very sick and decided to drop out of med
after chemo I did not see myself dealing with the stress
But my advise to you is to try giving your son Magnasium
this is from exp.
I was getting very tired, unable to consentrate, everything bother me, always have headache spend thousand of $ in the US
until I was in the Caribbean and I got sick it 23 Euro for the doc visit & 4 Euro to cure me of years of pain
I do not say that you son problem is the same but since it has to do with chemical inbalance
I think you should try it
and also noted that if his body have to much magnasium he will
pass when he pee
also you can take him to an Homeophatic or Acupunturist
Good Luck & God Bless

Saint Johns wart seems to help it also helps a lot of people with OCD. Doctors just seem to play medicine ginue pig with kids these days. Also look in to some one that is good with behavior problems that can help you make up a behavior chart that you can send to school w/ him every day. sometimes when kids have a constant reminder of what is expected of them it helps. You can find st. Johns Wart over the counter.

Your son still needs to be evaluated by a mental health proffesional and he maybe needs some other medications. Good Luck on your son. If he is doing bad in school, then he most likely needs special education classes.

Have you altered his diet at all? The food he eats can playa major role in behavior. Especialy if there are certain sensitivities. look into the Feingold Diet to start and google other dietary/ADHD sites too.

Humble thyself and pray, then will God hear from heaven and heal your land.......In your case Humble yourself and pray. Then will God hear from heaven and heal your childs life.. Perhaps God will restore his mind and maybe The Lord will also give you a greater understanding and you will know what to do.
