Congrats on your new baby and decision to breastfeed. It's the best thing for you AND your baby. It takes about 500 extra calories per day to breastfeed a baby. If you eat sensibly, and incorporate excercise into your routine. If you limit your sweets, fats, and empty calories you should do well.

Believe me, you will lose weight naturally by breastfeeding. It will also tighten up your tummy. You need an extra 500 calories, so make sure they are fruits, vegetables, lean meats, and whole grains. Your baby eats what you eat, so a healthy diet is a must. I didn't eat enough at first, and my mom told me I would get weak from not eating. I didn't believe her, and the next thing I knew, I was down in bed so weak I couldn't get up. I started eating more like she said, and I started feeling better. I lost all my weight I gained with my daughter within 6 months plus some, and my body looked great.

by breastfeeding, yes thats right. There is no need to try and loose weight whilst breastfeeding.
Breastfeeding will contract your uterus and get it back to normal and as the baby is sucking all your vitamins and nutrients out of you, you will drop weight easily.
You have to remember to eat healthy and enough to provide you and the baby with all the vitamins and nutrients you both need.

I lost 6 kilos (13 pounds) off my normal weight when I was breastfeeding. I ate every thing I could to put on a bit of weight as I was underweight, but still didnt gain any weight till I stopped breastfeeding.

You shouldn't try to lose weight while breastfeeding, your body still needs the calories to keep your milk production going. Just remember to eat healthy, EXERCISE, and drink plenty of water! Enjoy that new baby!

Talk to a lactation consultant about the means by which you plan to diet and make sure it won't affect your milk supply.
You can do a modified (not the first 2 weeks!) of the South Beach Diet safely... Just watch your supply and stop the diet if you notice a problem.
