I believe that if we hadn’t went to war when we did there would have been a lot more attacks on the USA like 911 or worse.
And that we are still there to clean up the mess, if we pull out to soon the other countries would be mad at us for not cleaning up.
And how many remember the father G..Bush said when we were in dissert storm. (if we go in to remove Saudom, it will be another Vietnam) dose anyone remember this?
and everyone said why didn't we get sadom out while we were ther.
NOW we have and no one likes it.

NO one wants war, but no one want attacks on the USA

If I'm not mistaken, our war in Iraq has created a lot of anti-American sentiment, worldwide, and made us much less safe. How about we focus on protecting ourselves, and doing a better job in security, here, rather than invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11? Of course we don't want attacks on the USA. But a war with no clear objective, fought for no real reason, is not going to do anything to protect us. War should be a last resort, and an action taken only when it is necessary.

What I really want to know is the real reason Bush attacked Iraq. And it wasn't just 9/11.
Why would he attack Iraq when La Quada had tried several times to assassinate Hussein. And that made La Quada just as much a threat to Hussein and Iraq as La Quada was to us.

Afghanstan I can see because that was La Quada's training camps and the Talbian were being supported and trained by La Quada. But not Iraq since La Quada was just as much a threat to the leaders in Iraq.

So that said I think there is a lot more to it than what Bush is telling us.

And yes Hussein did have nerve gas, and he did have mustard gas. Hell we gave them to him during the Iraq Iran war to use on Iranian soldiers to stop their human wave attacks on the iraqi lines.

Could it be some secret deal between Bush and Iran for their secret help in Afghanstan? Rmember this for all the governments in the region the only one that wanted to get rid of Hussein was Iran.
But that is something we wil most likely never know. Too many heads will roll if that is the case and it is made public.
Could it be that was part of the deal to pay off old debts the Bush familiar owed?
What ever the reason we are in a mess over there. Between the rock and hard place if you will. And we are stuck ! If we pull out before it is settled then we will be precieved as being weak. and then Katty bar the door because we will be in a world of hurt, because every American both here in the states and overseas will have a big target painted on our backs.

Those are all very good points and I have to agree. There are many anti-war people who post here and I'm glad they do. Peaceniks keep warmongers in check while warmongers protect peaceniks ability to do so.

We have to have each other in order to maintain a civil society. However, that civility must be encouraged by each side when in debate, as well.

We did the right thing in Iraq whether anyone wants to believe it or not. We are winning in Iraq and history will prove that as well. To say that we went to war over WMD is like saying we fought the Civil War over slavery. The reasons go much deeper and we will remember of it only what we want.

I'm not sure you'll find too many people who will argue that we went to war in Afghanistan for no good reason. That conflict was entered into with more caution than we needed, but it has been effective. It's a continued learning process, however, and if we are to win, we need to change how we do things.

No one wants war, but when it comes there is only one way out and that is to win.

Well, good news (kinda) if we dint' go to war, a lot more people would like us. Terror attacks are driven by hate of a nation. And there is no better way to get somebody to hate you then to attack a country that was doing nothing to you. We are Creating Terrorists in Iraq- ever wonder who is attacking out troops?

The entire world was sympathetic to us after 9/11. the only celebratory video was supposedly from the middle east, but was old footage from a ceasefire. the entire world was on our side and willing to help end terror.

what happened to that? we invaded Iraq, that's what.

When the Clinton Administration was leaving office they passed on to the George W. Bush Administration the warnigs about Osama Bin Laden and that he was planning a major attack. Counter measures were designed and ready to go but the Bush people ignored the whole thing.

Note: When GWB was about to go bankrupt on one of his failed enterprises it was an agent of the Bin Laden family that bailed him out.

The Bin Ladens, Bushes and Saudi's have been good buddies for decades.

"Beware the leader who bangs the drum of war in order to whip the citizenry into a patriotic fervor. For patriotism is indeed a double-edged sword. It both emboldens the blood, just as it narrows the mind." Julius Caesar

i think our troops being in other countries is really pissing some people off, maybe even making it worse.

i wish there was a way to make peace, without having war. which im positive what everyone wants. but still, it breaks my heart everytime i watch the news and see another death or two or ten from war :(
