I grew up in the 70's and 80's and I remember saltine crackers were made with 4 crackers per cracker and there were only 2 packages of crackers per box not like now where all the crackers are seperated and packaged into 4 single cracker stacks in a box. When did this change take place I don't remember and I liked it when crackers were big like that and wonder if any brand still keeps them in a big square?

I don't think you can buy them this way anymore. I don't know when they changed the packaging. It was probably done because there are so many single people these days and the crackers stay fresher when packaged into single packs. I prefer them this way.

I remember what you are talking about, grew up in the same time period. No one makes them anymore, except for matzo crackers; those are an acquired taste I've yet to acquire! When did they stop making them? early 80's, I think.

Those were made by Sunshine. They were wrapped in wax paper and I haven't seen them like that in a long time. I used to make a big ol' peanut butter sandwich with them.

Alas, they are gone, and the supposedly easier to use individual ones are here to stay.
Can't say when they left, I just remember them fondly along with the rest of the stuff we can't get anymore.
