1. If depression persists, seek professional help. The sooner you do so, the sooner you can be on the road to recovery. Seek out an understanding doctor who is familiar with the condition. Try not to feel ashamed of your depression or to feel embarrassed if you need to take medication.

2. Exercise regularly. Studies have shown that regular exercise can be an effective therapy for depression.

3. Tell those who are closest to you how you feel. Do not isolate yourself or bottle up your feelings.

4. Remember that you do not have to have a perfect house. Try to keep your life simple by focusing on things that are essential.

5. Pray for courage and patience. If you find it difficult to pray, ask someone to pray with you. Recovery may only be delayed if you hold on to feelings of guilt or worthlessness

I would first of all explore this with your physican, it could be a chemical imbalance that could be managed with medications, and sometimes this becomes worse in winter. Other health issues such as blood sugar issues, thyroid, sleep problems can also be factors. Lifestyle choices may also play a role, ensure that you eat right, get enough sleep, enjoy recreational interests and social supports, exercise, and get enough natural light. Finally, explore you thinking patterns, as how you perceive and interpret some of the events in your life could be playing a factor. Focusing on the negative from the past doesnt help. Explore some goals, perhaps seek some professional help, and try some new things. A great book is one from Burns called The New Mood Therapy, that has exercises that help you identify and modify thoughts that lead to depression.

A very important step to getting over depression is getting to the root of why you feel down. What is going on in your life? Has their been any significant events that have made you depressed or does this feel like something else?

You should seek out a therapist. Talk therapy combined with anti-depressants is usually the best way to overcome depression.

You may also exercise, adjust your diet, spend time outdoors, or get involved with volunteer work, your church, if you attend, or other activities that you enjoy.

You might try B-complex vitamins, because your depression could be linked to a mineral deficiency. If you do take vitamins, consult with your doctor of therapist if you are on other forms of medication.

I wish you much luck. I hope you can get the help you need.

Pull yourself together by thinking of all the good things that you have experienced....the gud ones only.
Tell yourself that you are worth God's Love becuz Jesus loves you no matter what...He promised to carry your burdens for you...
After all, He carried the weight of the world my dear.
Go to God, pour out your heart to Him, cry all you want and tell Him how frustrated and depressed you are feeling and then after all the crying, start to praise Him ...exalting God will exalt you.
I promise you that all the feeling of unworthiness will be gone in no time when you visit the throne of the King of Kings....

I had a bad time with prozac, paxil, and celexia,
but, they help some people.

If you have an imbalance, you need to get that taken care of.

Diet (mine is low sugar vegan) and vitamins (esp those in Spirulina) help me

but if it is from life triggers
then you need to be counselled most likely.

See a doctor, as you may be clinically depressed. In the meantime, go to: www.depression.com/- and www.relax7.com/7.php and view the blogs of Shan Eris on "tackling depression" at: www.myspace.com (http://www.myspace.com/7087317)

Quit thinking about all the bad things in your life and focus on all the good things. Keep doing this over and over as much as you can. Pretty soon your depression will be gone. Its all in your mind and if you mind sees you happy you soon will become happy.
