I don't personally know a Himalayan cat breeder in the areas you mentioned but I have some ideas that might help; Try to attend the CFA (Cat Fanciers Assosiation) cat shows. They usually have 2 every year here where I live (NY) & I believe they have one in the NYC area.Great place to meet serious cat breeders & sometimes they have kittens for sale. if not, they have business cards with their cattery name & where they are located. The last show I attended many breeders were from the NY, NJ, PA Ohio & Ontario Canada area...Himalayans are very popular as are Persians, Main Coons & Siamese.Buy a copy of Cat fancy magazine & check out the breeder;s referral page.. that's how I found my Siamese...also, on the internet; look up breeders of the breed you want, see where they are located & if you can visit & see the queen & her litter. Talk with the breeder, ask questions & be prepared to answer questions as well.Don't buy any animal that someone will sell you over the internet! You MUST visit the breeder's home & see the animals in person & the facilities where they are housed...and beware if the breeder doesn't let you in to see the "family"!! But I think you know all this already, so, good luck to you & stick to your guns about purchasing a well-bred quality animal.

Don't buy cats from breeders. There are thousand in shelters that need a home. There may even be a himalayan? Who knows? Vist petfinders.com they list cats in many shelters in the NYC area.
