My doctor gave me Xanax xr Monday. It's supposed to last 24 hours, but she told me to start taking at night and if I didn't feel any relief take another one in the morning. I don't feel that they last all day so I've been taking it twice a day. It's supposed to give you a calm feeling all day long, not a quick calm feeling that then goes away quickly. So far so good. She's going to give me prozac next week after seeing how the Xanax Xr works. Good luck!

hi,
both klonopin & xanax belong to the family of meds called benzdiazapimes or benzo's for short. both are just as potent as the other. the difference is how they work. xanax kicks in fast and leaves almost as fast. klonopin is longer lasting and kicks in just a tad slower. whichever one you are on, if you are in the depths of an attack, put the med under your tongue and let it disolve there, it goes right into the blood stream instead of through the stomach, to the liver,to activate.

I don't know about klonopin but I have just been pit on zanax. I was taking lorazapan. Zanax does work fast and doesn't last long either. You just need to work with your doctor and find out what is the best med for you, that works best for your situation. Best of luck to you!! ;o)
