Some puppies dont have pointy ears...I'm confused ..do they change when their adults? or do the ears go up only when they are alert?

No yorkies have typical and natural "prick" ears meaning they go up... it sometimes takes some puppies longer, up to 6 months for there ears to full extend. Some times you get a flop earred puppy which means there ear cartilage was just too weak. On occasion you can "tape" (taping is not cropping) the ear to give it extra support to get it to firm up but on rare occasions there are one or two that dont go up at all.

The ideal Yorkie has pointy ears that are upright. But maybe only 10 percent are born that way, the rest have flaws like floppy tipped ears. Its no big deal since they are all lovable, but some yorkie owners might want to show off their pet in the best of breed contests etc. Then they buy the prettiest ones from the breeders

I have a 10 mo. old Yorkie, and his ears do not stand up. but he's still the cutiest thing ever!!!!! I did the whole taping and massaging when he was a little thing and it did not help. Also they do not crop Yorkies ears. So it's still natural if there ears don't stand up.

ALL dogs are whelped w/DOWN ears! They come up as they age *IF* they are BRED to have PRICK EARS!

ONLY ***CRAP*** yorkies ears fail to stand as adults.
GO READ the BREED STANDARD!!!!
