Mary was not a religious figure and in no way was meant to be worshiped. she was just the woman chosen by God to give birth to Jesus. and ur absolutely right the bible does say that so worshiping Mary is having another god or idol and its a sin.

before any 1 starts bashing me i no thats what some religions believe and im happy for them. they have their beliefs and i have mine. just like every 1 else has their own beliefs.

it also says in the bible, i dont no the exact words, but Jesus was sitting at a table and some 1 told Him his mother and sister was out side wanting to see Him and Jesus said every 1 is his mother and sister and brother.

it also says not to call any 1 father except God. different bibles say different things. if u got a bible from each religion they would be a little different.

God knows who he is.

God knows who Mary is.

True Christians clearly understand the difference between a creator and a creature, and they also understand the fact that worship is reserved for God alone.

The Holy Spirit is the facilitator of every prayer, and the Holy Spirit is also an intimate friend of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Due to this fact alone, no worship of Mary is even possible.

Study that Bible some more. You've obviously missed a few things.

Sigh.

Catholics pray to Mary and the saints, yes.

But pay close attention to WHAT we pray. We don't ask them to do things for us or give us things. We ask them to pray for us. Just as we ask our friends to. We do not worship Mary or the saints. We don't think they are God.

Why? Because, being in Heaven already, Mary and the saints are closer to Jesus and to God than we are. Plain and simple.

Besides which, if you wanted to get the attention of a man, what better way than to have his mother on your side?

You shouldn't pray to Mary the mother of Jesus because it was God that let Mary to give birth to Jesus. God was the one who sent Jesus to Earth to sacrifice himself for us and then rise again, Mary was an ordinary woman that followed God's laws.

I'm christian, but I don't believe in praying to anyone but God. We pray in the name of Christ, but the prayers are to God. I don't understand the need to ask Mary to pray to God, when she is already WITH God. And if God hears our prayers, why is there a need to pray to someone else to have them pray to God for us? That pretty much defeats the whole purpose of prayer.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was the first Christian. The first person to believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah, the Son of God.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopal, and Methodist Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

Prayer to saints is communication, not worship.

The Hail Mary prayer simply recites Bible passages (the Word of God) and asks Mary to pray for us:

Hail Mary Full of grace, the Lord is with you. (These are the words the angel Gabriel said to Mary, a Bible quote.)

Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus. (This is Mary's cousin Elizabeth's greeting, another bible quote.)

Holy Mary, (The angel Gabriel said she was full of grace and Elizabeth said she was blessed.)

Mother of God, (the Bible says Mary is the mother of Jesus Christ, God the Son)

Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. (A simple request to pray for us.)
