It is not only a reaction to the fear of the unkown (death), but also an ancient way of pacification, and keeping law and order.

Yes. At it's base religion is the response to a humans greatest fear. The fear that this is all there is. (Even though all of this is pretty impressive)

I think it's good to have faith in things and God is a great being to have faith in. And yourself too.

I was asked once if I believed in love and I said "Yea?". They said, "Well you can't see love, how can you believe in something you can't see?" That's a tough one but I do, and I believe in love and so I believe in God in that very same way.
