While talking about Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we forget the Pearl Harbor attacks by Japan. Nevertheless, later on America itself became an aggressor up on poor and weak nations in lust of colonization and exploitation. I wish to see American Foreign policy at the status quo of pre World War ll.

Why did you leave out the facts about communism and the attack on America on 911? America is defending American interests and is not the aggressor.

After WW2 the US realized it could no longer bury its head in the sand when it came to aggressive nations and their exploitation of smaller or weaker nations. Our focus on our own self interests almost caused Europe to be speaking German. It was only a foolish attack by Japan to awaken us from our slumber and cause us to do the right thing.

In future conflicts and diplomatic actions it is unfortunate that we chose not to take as decisive actions as we did during WW2. Korea is still a simmering pot ready to boil over into full scale war at any time(recent diplomatic gains notwithstanding), Vietnam was costly in terms of our own citizen's lives as well as emboldening the communists regimes of the era, Somalia, Bosnia- Herzegovina, Kosovo, ethnic slaughter in Africa and on and on. The only success we can take pride in since WW2 is the victory over the USSR in the Cold War. So based on that I don't believe it has been our aggressive foreign policy that has been our problem, but a foreign policy that hasn't been aggressive enough.

No you don't. Before WWII, America was all about isolationism, about not engaging in the world. Our reluctance to get involved helped keep the League of Nations weak and helped the conflicts that led up to WWII spin out of control
Rather, we should be about internationalism, supporting international law and organization. This may be a far cry from some of the more muscular tendencies in foreign policy, true. And it helps build more goodwill.

America is economically and militarily strong. Almost all other countries depend on American aid. US expects the beneficiary nations to toe their lines. There is nothing wrong with their policy when other nations go to them with begging bowls.

You have left out essential facts. America only acted in self defense. Can you imagine what a hard decision that was for the president to make? America, whatever its faults, is not the type of country to attack innocent lands.

I don't see where you get the notion of America being aggressive and lusting to colonize and exploit weaker nations. The U.S. has worked very hard to keep the weaker nations in our hemisphere free as well as those in other areas who have asked for our help.
There are free nations all over the globe because of the hard work, "blood, sweat and tears" of Americans. That includes the people of Japan, Korea, Mexico, Liberia, France, Germany (heck, all of Europe , North Africa and nearly all of Asia!), China, The Philippines and those are just a few. It would be absurd to free those nations just to enslave them ourselves.
That is not to speak of economic enslavement. We do that to ourselves. Sometimes to our betterment, sometimes not.
NOBODY has given as much of their economic largess to help poor people of other countries than the Americans. NOBODY has given as much of themselves to help other nations to raise themselves out of "Third World" status. NOBODY has given as much to help the sick and afflicted (not to mention victims of natural disasters) around the world. NOBODY!!

As do I. We seem to use world war two to justify bullying the world. Ive never heard russia do something, then say "have we forgotten the lessons of ww2? We are preventing that from happening again"
