I live at home still and this is my pay for two weeks. when I filled out the w4 I filled it out as single no dependants. Does anyone know how much money I can expect back next year. This is based on a $24000.00 salary.

The first guy is right on one thing. He IS no tax expert. You'll probably get something back, but it certainly will NOT be everything that was withheld.

It's not possible to say today what you'll get back in a year. There are way too many variables.

If you claimed 0 or 1 on your W4, you generally will get something back. The more withholding exemptions you claim, the less tax is taken out and the higher your take-home pay.

By claiming 0, the highest amount of tax will be withheld. Unless you have an unusual tax situation you should get something back. Without knowing all of your financial details it's not possible to pin down an exact amount but it probably will be somewhere in the range of $500 - $1,000.

Having about the same income and if that's both state and Fed withdrawal, it looks like they're not taking enough out. They usually pull out about 1/3 of mine for taxes. But don't take my word for it.
Even saying that I still feel you could get $200 to $500 bucks back.

Good Luck

I'm definitely not tax expert, but I would imagine you'd get almost all of that back. I'm a good bit older than you and in college, but all my taxes, plus a little extra came back to me this year. You should check out HR Block's Tax Cut on line. I did both my state and federal taxes on there for $30 and I had my refund in my checking acount within a week.

You should get back all that you paid in.
