It's called a "rebound" relationship, and they happen all the time. However they are not always healthy or helpful.

Yeah,I think you should.
Go out with someone sometimes(about 2~3 per week),they can be boys or girls. That can call away your attention from the sad thing temporarily, and that will help you to recover. In the while you could release the load in your mind by talking to friends, playing with them, and pour out to them.
In this while, when you back home maybe after went out with people. You could think about your last love, think about why you broken up?backward-looking your past and to analyze your feelings, something wrong in your interaction, etc.I know you must felt pretty hard, and sad every time when you think about him, think about your love. But you have to be strong, give some time to yourself,to analyze this big event, remember do not make any big disicion or draw conclusion to your last love or between you two right now,coz your mood hasn't been stable.
Give youself some time to relax your mind and think about your problem completely, don't be hurry ,go out with someone that will help you recover quicker.Don't blame anyone, yourself or your boyfriend,no one is wrong : )

Depending on why you left him then maybe. If he was a jerk and this guy is great then take it slow, you don't want to rush into something that soon, but if you are just trying to fill the space then take a deep breath, learn more about yourself and why you broke up with you ex and what you learned from that relationship.

It's certainly a natural enough desire - to want immediately to replace something that's been lost - but not such a good foundation for a new relationship (the new guy might feel he's only there as some source of comfort).

it is odd, our society says it is ok for someone who jsut broke up with somone to go out with someone else very soon after, but not the person who was broken up with. i think that it should be ok, i mean what are you worried about? if you broke up with him apparently his opinion doesnt matter THAT much to you anymore, so sure. live while you can
