With this nasty cold weather, my lips are horrible! I've been trying a bunch of different store bought stuff like carmex and blistex and nothing seems to be helping. I was wondering what you do to help fix this problem. Thanks in advance!

You have to get the flaky dry stuff off your lips before the moisturizer can do any good. Put on some Aquaphor or Vaseline and wait one minute. Take a warm washcloth or an old toothbrush and GENTLY buff your lips with it for about 20 seconds. That will help get off the flaky dead stuff. Then apply some more Aquaphor and Vaseline. Hope it helps.

It looks like this question has already been answered! I have no advice on what latest preparation to buy and apply. I do know that the majority of Americans are dehydrated. That is the root cause, in one form or another, of chapped lips. You must rehydrate for a permanent fix. Water is by far the best choice for hydration. Until you are healed, avoid alcohol and caffeine in all forms as they are dehydrators. Use one of the balms suggested to hold moisture in until the re-hydration process cures you.

Plain old vaseline and drink lots of water. Honey is very hydrating too but not very convenient outside. If you have some time at home put a little hony on your lips and don't lick them for 10-15 minutes, it's a lip mask with very easy and yummy clean up.
