We are called and appointed before the foundation of the earth, and He knows all things, the end from the beginning, that's what prophecy is.this how ever does not mean we know everything before hand.Gods word is clear on predestination, as sons ,and adoption. But, man does not know everything, we know in part, and we prophecy in part, until He returns. So, man does not pre-know Gods entire plan for him, He, the receiver, is lead by The Holy Spirit. No man comes to The Father except The Spirit draw him.So, even this is not fully his own choice with out influence. Those who come to The call of The Shepherd, come because they recognize His voice, but at the time they can't pin-point why, or from where! Yet, it is God who brings in His flock, both Jew and Gentile into one new man. Jesus The Messiah, (Yeshua Ha Messiah). The reason we are told to press into the narrow gate, and put on The New Man,and choose this day whom you will serve is because to us it is all a choice! We have no clue of the end result and to gain any rewards to cast at The feet of Yeshua when we shall see Him as He is, we must continue in Him, always abounding in the work of The Lord, for we are not informed of all our future, only in part. This is our wonderful Father who causes us to press in, with effort and self abandonment. Why? So we receive rewards out of pure motives of heart and mind. Reflecting His image as in a mirror to all, Christ in us, The Hope of glory!

I have written many short essays about the limitations of Calvinism. See http://www.existdissolve.com . Click the "theology" tab at the top. Look particularly under "Atonement Theology" and "Linguistics".
Also, my brother has written a recent series on the "TULIP" here: http://deviantmonk.blogspot.com
To me, the biggest argument against Calvinism is the quasi-pantheism which it necessitates. That is, if God has eternally foreknown and ordained all that exists and comes to pass; and as God's will (of knowing) is essential with God's being; then one must conclude that if God is eternal, so must all that it is proper to God's eternal ordination of all things (ie., everything) be eternal as well.

My own short answer is that if we are in fact totally depraved, as Calvin argued, and can't do anything about it, Jesus sure wasted a lot of time talking about us doing stuff we were already predestined to do or not do already. i.e. Luke 13:24 'Make every effort to enter through the narrow door...' except, what's the point, because only those who are already saved are already going to make the effort, and those predestined to be lost (thanks, God) aren't. It doesn't make sense.

whatever it is, its weak. Calvin has it right. I agree with all 5 points. This web site is a great place to discover how right he was. I am always amazed at how brazen people are in rejecting God and Salvation.

I have no argument with Calvin.
God would not be God if there were thing he does not know.
From my point of view 1. I don't know who will be saved
2. God does know
I look at a gate with the name "WHOSOEVERWILL"
walk through that Gate and look back at its name "THE ELECT."
some things God know and we will find out. afterward
