Just maybe someone would be kind enough to drive a blind person to an ATM so they could withdraw some much needed money?

A good reason is economics, in that only one die pattern would be needed for the multiple occupancies such keypads are installed within. I'm sure many are glad though, as I've seen people walk up to the ATM's, instead of drive. Some walkers actually gett in line with the cars!

while I agree with the last answer, I do have another addition.. and I know for a number of banks including TD and Royal(in Canada), the reasoning behind the inclusion of braille symbols is a manufacturing default.. Rather than label machines "drive through" and "in-branch", they merely left them the same.. it would have cost far too much to change the stamping machine over.

Please check the archives before asking another question, as this subject has been addressed many times.
The Americans With Disabilities Act requires that ATMs be accessible to all people with disabilities. No exception was included in the law, which took effect in 1990, for drive-up ATMs.

That's a good question since the blind person wouldn't be driving, but on the other hand someone could be taking through the drive through and help them out to use the ATM.

wow, good point. I never thought about that before...and you would think that anyone in the drivers seat would need to see where they are going to drive there in the first place.
