They found this enhanced oxygen that goes through the fuel system to make the car run better at higher horsepower, and they said that it was illegal and it was a fuel additive, and then Michael pointed a finger to someone saying they didnt have permission to do that, well no one usually has permission to do something like that they jsut kind of do it.. But I kind of feel really sorry for him because just because he doesnt have all the multi million dollar equipment doesnt mean he isnt a good driver and he still qualified on time.

I don't believe NASCAR itself released the information of what it was, so all the other answers are coming from sources, could be true could be untrue, either way it was an additive that was extremely illegal. Sounded like alcohol or jet fuel or rocket fuel, any of those are possible. And if you know anything about dirt track racing and running those type of things in your car, you don't run them and not know about it. They have an ador and can also cause your eyes to burn if the car is running in an confined area. In other words, Michael im pretty sure probably knew about it, he's a vet driver, he's not dumb, he knows what it is when he smells it, he simply got desparate.

They found a "octane booster" that was used in aviation fuel,The inspector(I was ten feet away when it happened)ran his hand into the intake to check for two things I know of: 1). loose parts, (as this could damage the engine)that may have fallen in as the carb was removed to install the restrictor plate. 2).wax, as some people place balloons or other items containing illegal substances into the intake (or carburetor) so after a short time of the engine running,it melts releasing the substance. when the inspector pulled out his hand he went to wipe it off and noticed the smell. He then asked another inspector what he thought it smelled like as teams are allowed to run any oil they wish and he said it smelled like"Techraline" so the guys wound up confiscating the car.(I'm not sure of the spelling of Techraline).

It was a rocket fuel. There is a BIG difference between jet fuel and rocket fuel. Most jets run on JP5, JP8, or something like that. It is very much like diesel fuel. As a matter of fact, you can run both of those fuels in a diesel engine without a problem.

Ammoniumperclorhydraide or rocket fuel has it's own oxidizers. It's looks like white sugar and can be made into a paste and smeared into the runners and it will release oxygen just like a nitrous oxide NOS. Remember Henderson Nevada?

Yeah, sadly it was rocket fuel. Darn. To start the season this way is a shame. I hope his new team can pull out of this and have a good year. Go, Michael!!!

The only thing I've read is that it is 'something that is found in jet fuel, but not jet fuel itself'. That was from SI & CNN. Hopefully they'll know more soon.

Jet fuel. It's like the car being on steroids. But you can tell which cars are on steroids--they're the ones with the shrunken ball bearings.
