Ask for a carfax report. The dealer should give it to you but if the don't it may be worth your money to get one, keeping in mind that it will only show repairs and accidents which were done at a dealer or went through the insurance company. Pay attention to where the car came from, i.e. New Orleans.
-What warranties apply?
-What is the lemon law that this vehicle falls under?
-If I don't like it will you take it back and let me choose another?
-Check both Kelly blue book and NADA book prices.
-If you are financing it find out what interest rate you are paying and if it is fixed or variable.
-Get everything in writing.

get a car fax and the number of the previous owner call them up and ask if there was problems with it if at a dealership
if a private sale then get a carfax this will tell you if the car was ever wrecked or something and a blue book price for the car so your not getting ripped
