Being a fugitive is a state charge unless the person crosses a state line then it goes to a federal charge. Grand larceny is of itself a felony

I think the most accurate way to determine his status is first determine where you live. The offense charged (grand larceny) is a felony. The definition of Grand Larceny is the taking of property without force, (force would make it robbery). The amount of property, ie: worth over $1000.00 is what makes it grand larceny instead of petit larceny. As far as the fugitve charge is concerned, there is no such thing. The issuance of a warrant from a judge would cause your fiance to become a fugitive. It is not a charge, it is a status. To sum this up simply, if your Fiance was convicted or failed to meet the requirements of the court regarding a grand larceny charge, such as he FAILED TO APPEAR, then he is now considered a fugitive. The status of fugitive just means that the court or its jurisdiction has issued a warrant so that he may be brought into custody.

If the original charge is a felony or a federal charge, then so is the fugitive charge.

A federal charge usually is a felony. If it is enough for the federal government to charge you.

depends on what the charges are for...felony if it's an in state, non federal crime (like taking bank money, robbing the post office) Did he go over state lines to get away with money or postage (just kidding...) then it's federal.
