It makes me feel funny...when church asks for money so much. The first church I went to...took up the collection place 4 times!!! building fund, love offering, tithes and offerings, and then something else, i forget. it makes me feel very....i can't find a word that describe it. Does anyone else see this too? I mean, I know offering is important...otherwise how can the church be ran...but preachers seem to be so fake when they ask for money. it makes me think they got in the business just to get tax-free money. and if that is true...they are misleading a lot of people because their faith is not true.

because they are the greedy dogs in the bible as it is written in "Isaiah 56:11 Yea, they are greedy dogs which can never have enough, and they are shepherds that cannot understand: they all look to their own way, every one for his gain, from his quarter. "

As we see they do it for there own gain. So we need to be wise to find who really teaches the right doctrine of Christ.

The bible says that we can determine which religion is true or not
"Joh 7:16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
Joh 7:17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.
Joh 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

If someone wish to find if a preacher is of God Start to look in there doctrine the doctrine must be pure, rigth, blameless and purely based on the bible.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Is there any place else you go that doesn't ask for money? Everywhere you go they want your money, why should it make you feel funny when the church asks you. You probably get more for your money at church than you do anywhere else. Most people feel akward about it because they are not giving much or at all. If a preacher doesn't teach the people how to give, then he is not preaching the truth and is not teaching his people how to receive the blessings of God.

However, you are right about some preachers, mostly the TV ones that really are in it just for the money. At least when a church is designating places for the money to go (building fund, offerings, etc) you at least no where it is going as opposed to some where you have no clue if it will be used for God or not.

I Can see what you are saying once maybe twice should be sufficient. As for tax free money (Church money) the pastors and any workers are taxed on their income just like you or I the exception is pastors (Clergy) don't pay into SS and thus don't receive benefits from it.
God (The Bible) requires Christians to tithe and offering are given of a free will. Of coerce you can chose a church or none but the US government takes more than two tithes from me and I can not stop paying this corrupt overgrown Leviathan.
It's funny how the people that hate church's making money love to vote democrat and force others to pay for things they don't even believe in.
My advice to you is to find a church that only require you to tithe and as for your offerings that's between you and God.
On the other hand if a church says you don't have to tithe they are not teaching what the Bible's doctrine on the matter truly is.
P.S. "The LOVE of money is the root of all evil."-not money. Money is a neutral thing, it can feed starving people or build concentration (Extermination) camps.

Sadly the church was forced into asking for money. You may see the bad part, but the truth is that if people were more giving, the church wouldn't have to ask for offerings. I know people that go from one church to another only looking to see what they can get off the church (and I mean moneywise). And yeah, every day that passes I see more people giving less offerings. When was the last time you gave a $20.00 bill ,or for that matter, saw anyone giving one in the offering plate? You're really only thinking of what you can gain from the church, but remember that one should go to church because one wants to serve, not the other way around.

Wow. That is the first time I've ever heard of a church tithing four times in the same sitting. I would be mindful of the church you're going to. Perhaps a comparison of surrounding churches would be in order?

Oh, and I think the word you're looking for is " used ".

Best wishes.

Church IS Big Business. Making money off millions of suckers every week. They fool you into thinking you need them to have a relationship with God by telling you that you are going to hell for eternity if you don't come one in and pay the priest to intermediate between you and God. Totally not necessary... The whole thing.

The only thing church is good for is establishing a community.

There are all kinds of churches, and yes, some of them are in it for the money. There is a mega-church in Texas that has hired plenty of staff to make sure they can continue to take in more and more.

However, there are also some wonderful churches who make sure they give 50% of their offering to causes such as hunger, disaster relief, etc. Also, I once read about a church that paid their staff according to their needs. For instance, the janitor had the biggest salary because he had 6 kids.

You just need to find the right church who's ideals fit yours. Some people only go to church because they think that if they please God, He will give them more earthly possessions. It's a sick and ugly cycle.

"isn't money the root of evil, then why churches are begging for it?"
Unfortunately, I found this saying to be true in any church that I've been to :(

Religion is big business. God hates religion as it breaks His Commandments or did you not know.

Don't go to places like those. Go directly to the source, the Word of God. Especially now that we are in the final days of this World Age.><>
