Check out this link http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=54260 about some recent cases internationally, where people have been indicted for criticizing Islam, or for criticizing abortion.

So, do you feel that we should pass a "hate crimes" law? Christians, how do you feel knowing that you could be put in jail just for reading the bible, and agreeing that sex outside of marriage is sin?

Funny, even Thomas Jefferson, the author of the non-constitutional statement "separation of church and state", attended church in a government building and wanted bibles in classrooms. And he is paraded by those who hate Christianity, even though they take it to a level that he himself wouldn't have intended.

Nobody should be hassled or troubled for what they say or believe. There are laws in several states that ban blaspheming the Christian God or Jesus, so nobody in particular is targeted.

Publicly reading the bible is not a real crime. The law may say otherwise in some cases, but it generally won't. Even so, it is the population that truly decides what is a crime and what is not. People that are offended by what they don't believe have the right to be offended, and they have the right to complain, but they do not have the right to stop it.

I have no problem with anyone that supports their beliefs, even those that try to make me believe in God. They're only trying to help, and there's no crime in that.

I asked a questions like this a while back. I was surprised at the outrage by people. I got 50 responses and at least 45 thought I was a homophobic nut. It is really scary, and people need to realize that these things are taking place. We need freedom to practice religion, as much as people need freedom from religion. Our rights are being trampled on to satisfy the minority. I wanted to vote independant, but its scary to think of the damage a crazy liberal could do in 4 years. Bush is bad enough, what about Hillary. Its going to get ugly for Christians in the near future.

Here is my question from before:

Freedom of religion is supposed to be protected by the Constitution. So is free speech. If such things happen in America, we have lost a foundational freedom.
Another problem here is that Christians are victims of double standards. Other faiths and non-faiths can be expressed freely, but the Christian faith is often condemned.

no reading a Bible in public should not be considered a hate crime. as long as they are not trying to force you to read it to you shouldnt care. and pre-marital sex is a sin.if peole waited for marraige for sex the world would be less populated. but you would rather tell married people they cant have babies because of overpopulation.

There is no such thing that muslim feel offended if you read the bible openly. Muslim regarded the bible having written by men so it is just another book . Try reading it in Indonesia which is 90% muslim, they won't even notice you.

No, following it to the point of breaching the law is. You would not be put in jail for such a thing.....you are a fearmongerer........so it happens once or twice, most people know that there is a difference between thoughts and actions.

Spreading the love of Jesus through paranoia and lies, one idiot at a time.

Yes...a majority Christian nation is going to imprison people for reading bibles. Right.
