What you can try is a regular white tea lenght dress. You may be able to find this a regular department store or even in the mall. Even try davids bridal or Eden bridals.

Well you could get a cute tea-length wedding dress practically anywhere - David's Bridal, Alfred Angelo, etc. However, you are going to spend at least a few hundred dollars for your traditional dress....for what? To wear it for an hour tops (ceremony's only take 30 - 45 minutes, at least they should or your guest will get awfully tired of sitting). That's a lot of money for dress that's only going to make a one-time-only appearance for an hour! Why not either wear the traditional dress the whole time OR buy the tea-length dress for the entire day OR wear a more casual, less formal wedding dress - one that is long and flowing and will move with you when you dance. An nice "destination" or "beach" gown would be lovely, or even a white or cream prom dress or bridesmaid dress AND they are less expensive! You can get a nice one for $300 or less at David's. Congrats and good luck.

U can always have ur dress made where it's long but it can be shorten, whom ever make it can make it where u can undo it or unhook it to make it short it's the same dress but u can take take the bottom half off the top is the same but theres a way to undo it.
But then u can also just have a short wedding gown. I have a friend her wedding dress was short( it looked nice on her because she's tall, thin and she has very nice legs) and it worked out because no one really cared about the fact that the dress was short she looked so good. She had a nice veil the back of the dress had a long train but the front was short, after the wedding at the reception she unhooked the train part of the dress so she can dance and walk around without worrying about stepping on the dress. She really pulled it off because the dress was beautiful as was she

It is perfectly fine to change into a shorter wedding dress for the reception, just be sure it is not to difficult to change into. If you are taking pictures after the ceremony, and then changing, your guests may become a little weary. I would suggest, if you do not find something you like, go to the fabric store and check out the pattern catalogs. You may find the style that you want and have it made for less than it would cost to buy one from a traditional wedding store. Also, look at the bridesmaid's dresses if you are going to order it. Many can be offered in bride's colors (white, cream, and ivory) you never know unless you ask.
David's Bridal does have white 'maids dresses or just check your favorite manufacturer.

I would really, really, really advise you not to do this.
First, why pay so much money for a dress you don't even wear the whole day? It's painful enough to know that it will only get worn for a short time. Also, it is so much fun to prance around in your pretty princess dress all night long. You will still have fun in a traditional dress. If you buy the right dress for you, you'll be able to move as well. And really, you'll spend so much time mingling with your guests, that you won't be dancing as much as you think you will.

When I first started planning my wedding I was going to have it outside but after I put more and more thought into it i decided not to. But I had picked out this adorable bridesmaid dress that was tea length and flowy and it was so cute. I was going to get it in pink for my bridesmaids and I was going to be me a white one to change into and I thought that the pictures would come out great but I changed my mind and now the dress that they are wearing doesn't come in white so I am just going to wear my wedding dress all night sonce I paid so much money for it. But basically try looking at some bridesmaid dresses. With tea length being so in style you are bound to find one you like. Good Luck! and Congratulations!

Department stores have short white dresses for formals, my sister-in-law was married in one from Deb's! Also, David's Bridal web page has one or two short dresses under the Galina section of wedding dresses http://www.davidsbridal.com/bridal_gowns_return_galina.jsp?pageno=3
and also under prom

That's being done more and more these days. Try looking at the mother-of-the-bride dresses. They are short, but still fancy enough for a wedding.

If you want to change into another dress, OF COURSE it's all right! Be comfortable and enjoy your reception, and others will, too
