Well the old standby cliche' is...
It's not you...it's me. lol....I hate lame cliche's...
just tell him girl. Tell him your feelings have changed, and you hope to still remain friends...
Trust me...it wont be the last time either one of you breaks up with someone, it's never easy, but it's a part of life. Just be mature, and give it to him straight, nobody likes games.

It can be really hard to break up with a person if you don't want to hurt their feelings. The thing is they're going to be hurt one way or the other, so you may as well be straight forward about it.
I think you should just tell him "I don't think we should date any more". When he asks why say "I don't feel the same as I did. I still like you as a friend though".
Once you use the "let's be friends", he'll likely back off.

What you would be saying wouldn't be being shallow, you're being honest about how you feel. Tell him the truth, you don't feel the same way for him as you did before. He would be more hurt if you lied to him and made up excuses on why you broke up. Also there would also be resentment on his part for you. If you want to make it a clean break up (well, as clean as a break up can be), be honest.

How you handle this now will reflect on your future relationships for the rest of your long life.
Be polite, and honest, with him, and just gently tell him that you appreciate him and had a good time together, but you feel that you need to move on, and it's no reflection on him. And you hope you can be friends.

Be honest with him. Tell him that you just see him as a friend and you just don't feel the same. Tell him he is a nice guy and bring his self-esteem up and say that there will be someone else who likes him for who he is. (Kinda even out the "rejection.") You just don't feel the same way.

Tell him although you really like him alot,,you have other things that you need to concentrate on right now like school work to keep your grades up for college & pressing family matters & you dont think its fair to him that you do not have quality time for him so therefore you should just be friends. ;O)

aww who cares, your young. Make it painful, mean, and embarrasing. You'll wish you had when you get older. Be selfish. Just tell him its over, you just dont WANT to be with him anymore. You need your single time ya know.! Good luck girlie!
