My dog bites her nails and every time I stop her she looks at me and starts all over again. I guess you can't change a habit...maybe try putting bitter spray where he is biting to discourage him.

He may have something there that is bothering him & he's trying to tell you that. Check his tail for anything that could be irritating him. If there is something there then you should take him to the vet as soon as possible. If he's just doing it out of habit or just to get attention, I suggest clapping your hands together & firmly saying, "no!" Or if you don't want to do that, you can hit him gently, but firmly on the nose & firmly saying, "no!"

If that doesn't work, I recommend a shock collar to break the habit. They really don't hurt the dog if you don't have the electricity levels too high. While he's biting his tail, just give him a little jolt & command him to stop by saying, "no!" When he stops & doesn't start again, reward him with a treat & praise him. You should do the same thing when you are doing the other command I talked about as well.

Voice commands are important & need to be reinforced at times. Usually you can just voice the command & they should respond accordingly. If they are doing what they are supposed to, you can use a clicker &/or a treat for praise while vocally praising him.

Good luck with it all!

I believe your dog might have fleas or skin irritation. I would give him a bath in some medicated shampoo and maybe put him on some flea medication pills.

Also try to get him a flea collar if he already does not have one. If this does not help take him to the vet for a check up.

I know!!! my dog will chase it until it finally gets it out it gets tired of it! and once it's tired of not getting his tail, he'll keep trying until he does get it. I mean it's cute for like maybe 5 seconds then it's like !!!!!!!!!!
