They will send the shop a check for the repairs minus your deductible. Let's say your repair bill is $3,500 and you have a $1,000 deductible. The shop will get a check for $2,500 and release the car to you after you pay the other $1,000. If you don't pay the other grand, you don't get your car.

Your insurance will pay the shop that is repairing your vehicle. They will not pay you.
