Some guys are just like that. The good news is 'some' can change and be better.
To protect yourself from this kind of disappointing you should just stop expecting things like this from him. At the same time, make sure he know how you feel about it and move on. If he's really care, he'll be more thoughtful next time.

I have learned to expect nothing from Valentine's day, that way I am always pleasantly surprised, lol. For about 7 years, I had the worst track record ever with Feb 14, so I've learned to avoid the holiday entirely.
Incidentally, this year it wasn't terrible--more like terribly underwhelming. My husband and I were both too tired to really take advantage of the holiday, lol.

Yeah, I was all alone. It seems like I never have anyone on v-day. The only thing that made the day better was that the girl I really like called me, and we were lonely together.
Hold out hope buddy, maybe something went wrong with him and v-day. Not everything us guys do is on purpose.
Hope your weekend goes well.

If you have low expectations, you cannot be disappointed. I didn't expect anything for Val Day, so when I didn't get anything, hey presto, no disappointment!
It's no biggie if your bf didn't get you anything -- at least you know now what a tightwad he is :) I hope you retrieved the box of chocolates and ate them all yourself!!

Sorry to hear that it was a very cute idea what you did. Yes I also had a depressing v-day since my husband was out of town. He called me and sent me a card but we were still apart.

I hate V-day. The best thing to do is get yourself something that makes you feel good.
