I have a toshiba laptop with a vga output and a panasonic 42'' plasma tv. I would like to check my e-mails and surf the net by looking at my big screen Tv; unfortunatelly, the plasma tv does not have any computer inputs on the back. I went to Best buy store and they told me that I should buy a VGA to DVI adaptor and a cable with the DVI in one end and HDMI on the other. Well I bought these 2 items and connect the VGA adaptor to my computer and the HDMI to the back of the tv and I get nothing at all.
Can someone please tell me what I did wrong. I am so dissapointed...

hold the function key, usually "Fn" then hit one of the other keys tha are in blue. they are usually located on the same buttons as your numbers, the one you want will look like 2 squares next to each other, they kind of resemble 2 monitors, push that and it should swittch you to the tv for your monitor
