Banana pepper unless the hot variety are sweet. They are not the little salad peppers that you can buy canned or find in restaurant salads.

Banana peppers can grow to be about 4 or 5 inches long. They grow long and cylinder shaped not round and bell shaped like bell pepper. Yet they are thicker than longhorn peppers (another hot pepper favorite of mine). They would look alot like a giant jalapeno only they are yellow. They are sweet. They do not have that bitter taste that green bell peppers have. As kids we use to sit in the garden and eat banana peppers and cherry tomatoes. Those were the good ole' days.

I have never tried any store bought banana pepper. But I do love banana peppers. They should grow easily in a large pot or out in the yard. You can also buy plants that grow hot banana peppers, they are not as hot as say, jalapenos.
