I was a child care provider for social service Dept. A child care provider should have cpr , first aide, and child care trainning. They should be open minded to cultural diversity, not all families are the same, example some eat at the table others don't. Some use time out others might redirect. A provider should be able to communicate with the parents and set out guidelines that make everyone happy. Children learn through play so be creative, play games, make it learning games let the child/children use their imagination. Go through your home and look for potential dangers then ask provider what they would do in a situation that might result from that danger. These are your children, it's never enough to protect them or to see them grow in every way. If you are the provider make sure you have all the trainning you can get, it's a great career with great benefits, just look at the smile on the face of the next child you care for!

1. Patience
2. Caring
3. Fun- there's no shame in childcare you have to dance, sing play and be silly in front of staff, children and parents.
4. Loving
5. Fair- no favorites
I worked in childcare for the last 6 years, it is very poorly paid in Australia you defiantly don't do it for the money.
There is alot of paper work and crappy jobs(nappies and worse) to do it is not just looking after kids unfortunately.
but if your fun, active, caring and patient you will be great at it!

I think a good child care provider should know how to interact with a child and be able to teach them in a fun way. Kids learn better when they are being taught by someone who can make learning fun.

When entering a childcare inviorment, check things like: exit signs, fire escape plans, good childcare cirriculum, teacher-child ratio, where children sleep, meals they eat,and transportation.

they should be licensed by the state, cpr certified, check how many years they've been in service and how many complaints they've had, i would try to talk to one of the parents who already has a child there and see if they're happy or not

The most important thing is experience with children and that they love them. They need patience and a loving, caring attitude.
