If you tend to have thick curly or wavy hair, it will tend to tangle easily. Pantene offers a great selection of conditioners for different hair types. Aussie is also a good brand (use the 3 minute deep conditioner)

As you say, your hair is damaged and dry. Try Neutrogena Intensive Hair Conditioning treatment. It comes in a tube and works well. Follow the directions on the tube and use is often. Also use a good, conditioning shampoo, something that says it is for dry, damaged hair.

I have thin, easily damaged hair and when it gets bad I use Neutrogena 60-second Miracle hair conditioner. It works really well; it even helps prevent wind damage.

I also have used Garnier Fructis Hair Masque (inexpensive).

well im a girl so i think the best conditioners that work for me. They are:
Garnair (comes in a bright green bottle: cant miss it)
hawaian ginger root (that new blue stuff)
pantene
sry i cant spell good but hopefully these work!

mayonaise over all the hair, and a plastic bag clamped to seal it in for 30-45 minutes, and then shampoo out, its cheap and very effective.
