Hi-

Two suggestions for you.

One if you're wanting a fitness like shoe you can't go wrong with Asics (make sure you get the gel ones you can get whats called a Gel Nimbus or Kayano) make sure they are at least over 60 because the cheaper ones are not good.

I'd also say check out www.crocs.com These are cheap and every nurse and Vet Tech I know wears them. They are very comfortable and worth every penny!! :)

You should be all set!

Well you may want to go to the doctor you might have a heel spur. Running shoes really aren't all that good for standing. You need a walking shoe or at least a cross training shoe. I stand on concrete for several hours at my job and I wear the new Balance cross trainer. Can't remember what number it is. It's just solid black, not very pretty but it seems to really help. I would also try the gel insoles along with the new shoes. New Balance is really great.

I had the same problem with my heel...walking around on tip toes. I also managed to get a rubber mat to stand on at work. That really helped.

The main reason for hosing down a horse from the knee down after exercise is because the veins are closer to the surface of the skin there (very thin skin also). A horse will cool down much faster and more safely if you hose their legs for several minutes to acclimate them to the cool water. Think about it this way: on a very hot day, when you are very sweaty and hot, if you put ice cubes on your neck and wrists, you will cool down very quickly, because you are cooling your blood down, which reduces your core temperature considerably. (That is also why ice packs in people applied to wrists and neck can reduce fevers). Also, most people start with the legs in consideration for the horse... how would you like it if you had run a mile and someone dumped icey water over your whole body all of a sudden? The shock would be immediate and uncomfortable. Hope this answer helps! Have a great day!

Yep, heel spurs. They are very painful, feels like you are standing on pebbles and they get worse.
Sometimes changing shoes daily helps. Sometimes surgery is the only thing that will help.
But make sure you wear good support shoes like New Balance, Adias etc. Any that have a walking sole on them should help.
