The cold weather only makes you more susceptible to colds. Your immune system is weaker during the colder months, making it easier to pick up germs from the air outside. And bundling up helps keep your body warm, therefore helping keep your immune system warmer. So the immune system can better attack the germs that enter your body.

Well for one, the dry air makes our respiratory tracts more susceptible to infection. Second, in the winter we are all spending more time indoors with other people, and this close proximity aids in transmission of infections. Also, if you go out in the cold and are not properly dressed, this is stressing your body which affects the immune system. Finally, this is just the season when many of these viruses circulate.

you dont automatically develop cold symptoms when you go out in cold weather. i have even gone out in the winter with wet hair and had it freeze, yet i did not get a cold. if you get totally chilled, however, your immune response goes down, and then you may more easily fall victim to any germs lurking about.

cold weather does not cause cold
the common cold is a viral infection similar to influenza
you get them in colder weather because you spend more time inside breathing and re breathing air that the virus lives in

Cold weather doesn't give you colds, but it weakens your immune system and makes you more susceptible to pathogens.
