I've always noticed, particularly in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades, that most of the girls who have boyfriends are either super popular or super losers/skanks... Why is this!? Seriously, the nice, semi-popular, pretty, NORMAL girls never seem to have boyfriends (during the previously mentioned years)... Yet the girls who are ugly, wear the nastiest clothes (not, like, sluttiest, but just plain out-of-style clothes), get Fs in school, and basically goof off all day always have boyfriends... ditto the superficial, super-popular, back-stabbing barbie-look-a-likes!
why IS this? i seriously want to know.

You are forgetting the target audience here- boys.
Boys like girls who look pretty. Boys also like girls who are more likely to have sex.
The thing to ask is- can these girls KEEP a boy?
