I was just wondering if anyone would be able to tell me what a good curling iron would be for long straight hair. It's kind of thick but will still curl very well. I want to buy a curling iron but im not sure if it should be for big/small curles, size and brand? Any ideas?

Is it better to hold the iron vertically or horizontally?

As long as you buy an Profesional Hot Iron, is should be a good
one. You probably only want to put some movement into your long hair. So, a large Iron will work better. You can try Hot rollers too.

Buy the medium barrel, I think it's an inch and 1/2? I would get either a hot tools or chi iron. They both work great. I have long wavy hair, and I use a hot tools iron. It gets very hot, and the curl looks great. Good Luck...

Thick hair normally holds curl really well...i found a conair spiral curling iron at target for about $13 and it works VERY well and my hair wont get caught in it!

you should use mouse on damp hair and "scrunch" it including your fingers once you're drying it. this can make your hair "messy" yet in case you get solid at it, you are able to make your hair wavy this kind. yet solid oldfashioned approaches to get wavy hair from immediately hair are: bypass to mattress with braids. once you awaken your hair will be wavy. Or do pincurls on your hair. That is composed of taking small sections of hair, twisting it some situations and then rolling all of it the way up and pinning it on your head. You do your entire head like that and sleep on it. in the morning you unpin each and each and every of the curls and voila you've curly hair. you are able to also do rag curls - they promote those smooth little foldy products now for a present day version of rag curls that you are able to use. really you roll sections of your hair in the rags and pin them or tie them up and sleep on them. i understand you do not prefer to apply curlers yet curlers do paintings fairly properly - particularlly warm rollers.
