So does anyone have any ideas on how to pay for med school other than loans and grants. I mean scholarships and free money in general. It never hurts to ask. Plus I don't want to be living like a bum for the next 4 years.

The amount of scholarships is very limited once a student graduates with their bachelor's degree. Unfortunately, there are no government grant programs for those in medical school because the program ends once a student graduates with a bachelors degree. Basically, most medical students require the use a lot of student loans to make it through the program. On the good side, it will be based on your income and savings regarding the financial aid. I do recommend joining Scholarshipexperts because it is a good scholarship search program and very thorough due to its survey.
