Tricky Ricky,
Some day you will meet with the Lord on the day of Judgment. I hope that you gain some maturity before that time comes. HE will expect your obedience to HIS FATHER's WORD.
To become a real Christian, we are told that we must HEAR the WORD in John 6:45, Jesus said, “It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught by God. Therefore everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.” We are also told so in Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. We are told the we must BELIEVE in Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. We are also told so in Mark 16:16, Jesus said “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.” and in John 5:24 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. We are told that we must REPENT (or turn from sin) in Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish. Also in Acts 17:30 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. We are told to CONFESS CHRIST in Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. We are also told in 1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. We are to be BAPTIZED according to Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” and Mark 16:16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. We are to CONTINUE to be FAITHFUL UNTIL DEATH according to Revelation 2:10c Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. We also know that Paul wrote in Romans 14:12 each of us shall give account of himself to God. It is important that we not ignore what is written, change what is written, or add to what is written in the New Testament which is our Christian Guide. Have a great day!

Interesting- not a single statement you made other than the header is a statement of known fact.
Religion is not the root of ALL evil, human frailties are.
Religion does not draw men to the edge of hell- most religions do not even have a form of hell. Most religions try to draw people AWAY from destruction.
Religion may be a myth, but it is a LOT older than 2000 years.
The idea that god does not exist CANNOT be a statement of fact because it cannot be proven or dis-proven.
I find it interesting that your angry statements are pointed at one religion, and they do not even represent that religion very well.
They say we hate what we do not understand. That certainly seems to be the case here.

Hate is such an ugly word and statements like the root of all evil are sweeping and uncalled for. I'm an atheist too and I find religion a waste of time. I agree with you that the Judeo/Christian/Muslim religions are based on myths but they are far older than 2000 years old. They were first conceived by a handful of bronze age preachers roaming around the deserts of the Middle East. As to why we are here. All because of a selfish gene.

No, you do not hate religion, you hate Christianity.
As for "knowing" God does not exist, you base that on what imperical criteria? You "know" or "everyone who thinks knows", is not a measurable imperical criteria and is also false logically. It is an assertion, not a fact.
Why are we here? That is a question you have to ask yourself. As for me, I am here to serve God in all I do, be it work, play, raising my kids, or posting to YA.
Finally, the notion that religion is the root of all evil, again I ask based on what? Number of people killed? More people were killed in the 20th century by athiests than have ever been killed by Christians in the 2000 years prior to that. That is a historical fact, by the way.

Religion is not evil, it is man that may make it evil. If you feel God does not exist, then how did you get here on this earth and what are you suppose to be doing in life? We are here to Glorify God, & to make this place a better place for all.
Have you ever got alone by yourself with the Bible, read & meditate? If not then how can you be so sure? Because if you had you would not have this anger within you. Ask God to show you, to lead you, to guide you. God always loves a challenge!

Religion isn't the root of all evil, and nor is money. In both cases inequality is more the issue, but even inequality isn't the root of all evil. Religion is not a 2000 year old myth, Christianity is. Religion is much older.
The rest of your question is correct.

The question is Rick, why do you think we are here? Do you think it is all in vain? Do we just live life for years and years, our souls feeling such deep emotions and connecting to other souls, then one day...poof! ...we cease to exist? What is the point of that? We were made to worship the Lord our God, our Creator. Yes, we are so small compared to this vast universe, microscopic in the scheme of things, but the Lord our God who created us holds the universe in His hands. He knows how much sand is on the shore, and how many hairs are in your head...your head Rick. He created you. Not man, not dirt, not monkeys, not buddha. HE did. One day whether you accept it or not, you will face Him. So what are you going to believe, the Truth, or a lie?

Interestingly, someone like you may in fact be closer to God than some people we know, because closeness to God has nothing to do with religion. Religion is nothing but man's concept of how to reach God, and may be similar for many but is unique for each person.
Don't worry about not believing in God. Everyone has to pass through this stage, and as long as you remember not to swing your fist into your neighbor's nose, you are doing well.

i despise religion too. its time we do away with medieval doctrines that breed hate and division, and perpetuate ignorance and superstition.I don't think we are here for any reason beyond the fact that we simply evolved to our present state. our consciousness creates this need to find a reason for our existence we need something supernatural that reassures us that all this is not just some pointless cycle, and that death is not really the end. But to believe that i would be lying to my self. i think it takes courage to face the fact that life really is pointless, which is why we have to make the best of what we have. we have to give our lives meaning, and not just wait to die to reach some happy fuzzy place, where we prance around playing our little harps till eternity.

I'm pretty sure that people themselves are the problem. Even if there wasn't religion, we'd fight about something- it's human nature.
Those who are actually spiritual aren't the bad people: it's the ones who hide behind the veil of Christianity or any religion to justify their actions are the ones that give it a bad name.

You are free to think whatever you want to think...
I personally think you are wrong. I think your current religion has made you hate all religions. Some religions, like Christianity, can sometimes make you think that way. Most American atheists were once Christians until they discovered that some of Christianity's belief system does not make sense in the modern world we live in today...
I think you should not close the door on all religions, but try to seek the truth!
Salam!
