I supported my father the last 5 years, never claimed him because he didnt have a social security number, now he has it, can I claim him for this and the last 5 years on my tax return?

Nope! He didn't have a SS# so he was illegal. You can claim him for the time he was LEGAL if you provided more than half his support.

You can go back to 2003 and claim a dependent and possibly get a refund. You have until April 17, 2007 to amend your return for 2003.

You can also amend 2004 (up to April 15, 2008) and 2005 (up to april 15, 2009).

Any refund for earlier years is lost.

you cant claim the past 5 years on your tax return. you would have to go back and amend your prior years' returns.

You can only claim him for this year since that is the only year that he had a SS#. If he had an ongoing SS#, you could go back 3 years only.
