I bought a pair of Sony EX51Lsomething in-ear earbuds. These aren't the circle shape of the regular earbuds which fell out of my ears and were uncomfortable. My EX51's have a soft silicon eartip, which fit like earplugs. I can hear the bass real good, but be careful. Don't turn up the volume too loud or they will cause hearing loss. I turn them up loud enough where I can still hear background noise, like people talking or my office phone ringing.
These cost me around $40, but you can get less expensive brands like Phillips or Memorex. I bought mine at Best Buy.

Supposedly it's easier to damage your hearing with inner ear phones as they're closer to the eardrum. Get the outer ones and watch the volume level.

Have the headphones be sumthing that would be designed as a headset for a cellphone. Any headsets of that design is meant to be affordable, comfortable, and durable. Personally, I use my DJ equiment headsets to tune everybody else out, lol. Good luck!

Get the Sony MDR-EX51 from amazon.com. They're very comfortable, sound great, and are pretty cheap too!
