I need to know as much as possible about starting new fruit trees off parent trees. What kind of cuttings do I use? Root? Hardwood? How old should the tree be? Can I buy a young tree this year and do a cutting the same year? At what time of the year should I do the cutting? I am planning on starting an orchard of sorts on my property, so I want apple, peach, pear, ect. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated, as would any helpful links! Thanks!

What u have to do is simple. Depending where u live it may be different. If ur in Cali then u can simply fill a pot of soil half way full. Then plant the cut of piece in the soil, cover with remaining soil all the way to the top. IMPORTANT: Before u plant it u have to soak the very end where u cut it of in water so that it is moist. when u water make sure u water to the top and that u give it enough water till there are oxygen bubbles at the top of the pot.
