When i was in the Philippines, i had a black labrador retriever. I would recommend labrador retriever because they are sweet, friendly, intelligent, energetic and good natured, making them excellent companions and working dogs.

I think it depends on the dog itself. Just get out there and look at some options. choose the dog that you have an instant connection with!!! (although you may end up wanting to take them all home lol!!!) all breeds have the potential to be sweet lovable companions. You need to decide what size, coat type, and temperment would suit you. do some reseach then choose from breeds that fit the mold. I myself have owned many different breeds including a husky, which was a very good companion. all that hair is a lot of work though!!! right now I own 2 chihuahuas, a pitbull, and a terrier mix. Quite a combonation lol!!! but they are all great dogs. maybe consider a shelter also, I know from experiance that those shelter dogs make great pets ( they really pull at your heart strings). Anyway good luck, Im sure you will be very happy with any dog or puppy you bring home!!!!

You could ask 50 people that question and they will each tell you a different breed and why that breed is so wonderful. You need to take a good look at your lifestyle and figure out what traits you want in a dog and then do some research and find out what breed will best fit into your life. Do you live in an apartment or do you have a large fenced in yard? If you live in an apartment, do you have a dog park near by to let a high energy dog burn off that energy? Do you jog every morning and want a dog to run with you? Take grooming needs into consideration, would you prefer a short haired dog that requires less maintanence than a poodle who needs to take a trip to a groomer every 4 - 6 weeks? In my opinion, a lot of dogs find themselves homeless because people don't take the time to do research and find the right breed for them. Good luck with your search.

probably like almost all the dogs at the shelters. since shelter dogs are so unpredictable because they all come from different backgrounds...the best bet is to just go to the shelter and see which dog you bond with. you can ask more info about the breed (or breeds) to a volunteer. besides, half the dogs (if not more) are a mix of some kind, and usually isn't a purebreed.

I LOVE my rough collie, if you don't want to go out and walk your dog in the cold for four hours a day, I would get a rough collie. Collies are SOOO lovable, you can basically do anything to them and they'll still love you. But you have to cuddle and give them attention alot, otherwise they'll bug you sometimes. If your more of an active person, I would recommend a border collie. They LOVE to chase squirrels and go for walks, and they also love to be loved. Maybe your not a big collie person, but I wasn't so sure about getting my collie because of the hair and the exercise, but now I realize that I would have been miserable with out her. Good luck finding a dog!!

I love a Tibetan Spaniel. They are smart, easily trained, weigh under 15 pounds and live up to 18 years. They are SO cute.
