I've read several answers that included a belief that before we are born, when we are in some kind of spiritual state, we choose life. I simply don't understand how that is possible. Could someone explain it to me?

It's hard to grasp at first, but we do choose our parents before we are born again on this earth. The problem people tend to find with this theory is "Why would a child be born to an abusive or drug ridden existence?" Well you have to look within your self of course to find the true answer to that, but if i had to guess, i would say that child would be born to those parents with the intention of helping them come out of the slump they seem to be in. Of course many children don't recieve any of the spiritual guidance that i believe is neccessary to understand why we chose our particular parents. But they did at some point in thier lives/childhood have the oppertunity to make a difference, weather they accomplish the spiritual mission or not is another story. Further more...when we die, we see what we did or didn't do in the life we just lived, before we make the decision as our true spiritual selves (when we are a spirit) to go back and be born again to another set of parents with a most likely similar goal.

God has known us from the beginning of time. God gives us free will to choose. We can choose to stay with Him in a spiritual state or choose to be born on to humanity. Watch the movie City of Angels, with Nic Cage and Meg Ryan, gives a real good explanation of how that is possible. And one must remember with God, all things are possible.

When Jesus arose form the grave he came to the disciples and said, don't touch me because (I haven't yet rematerialized)
That's known as the finer body, when it's not of matter. Some call it the etheric plane where those bodies and people are. Some say that it feels even more solid than the physical plane does.
Jesus said my father's house has many mansions. put a di before it and you get dimensions. English has some "coincidental" things about it.

Believing that we choose to be born physically is as ridiculous as believing that we choose to be born again spiritually.

If I was a 'pre baby spirit' why would I choose to be born into a family that was going to be abusive. If we were all floating aournd choosing to live Why wouldn't we all choose to be born to good parents. God fits you into his plan- . He loves us and chose that were here because he wants a reltionship with us.

There is nothing in GOD's WORD describing this at all. I read an answer similar to what you are saying also but I do not know who or what that came from at all. I read, study, and do my best to obey GOD's WORD as it is written. I still find no reference to this in the BIBLE. Have a great weekend.

we were given life and that is not our choice to be alive..

the choice we have is the life we make out of that being alive..

being alive is so much different from living a life..

we chose to live the life that was given to us. that is we make out of our life to make it something..
