I live in Wyoming and its below zero out there.. and I sit out there with him im not going to leave him out there not fair.. if I cant take the cold then he at 8 weeks old cant so I stay out with him also.. I take him out every 45 minutes... Is that to long?

He has a bed under a tree? What happens if it rains? Does he have shelter from the elements? Does he have a place to get out of the sun, the heat and the rain? Failure to provide this dog protection from the elements is animal cruelty. Also this 3 month old puppy cannot hold it all day long if kept inside expect to find the house destroyed and sh*t everywhere. Have someone watch the puppy, no three month old puppy should be left outside all day with no protection from the elements and trust me the food and water will be gone before lunch time. No he should not be left outside all day, he's a puppy.

first buy a decent sweater that will keep him warm and he can still do his thing without it gettin on the sweater then have him out for as long as it takes im to poop and pi bassically that should be around 8 -10 min. take him out every 2 hours not every 45 min thats too much outside time and im wondering just a question no offense but do u sleep? every 45 min is alot to wake up and get dressed and take ur dog out ur dog should be able to hold himself through the night for about id say nine hours that should give u a good rest! any way good luck! and no hard feelings
p.s i live in new york did u see the news its below 10 degrees out here and weve got 9 inches of snow and ice mixed together shoveling is a pain

first off, it depends on the puppy. differant breeds handle cold weather better than others. if it's a very small and short hair type of dog, then don't let it be out any longer than is necassary to do it's buisness OR 10-15 minets, depending on the wind chil/ sunlight factor. for most larger types ( meaning lab puppies or shepards, cocker spaniels, even medium size poodles) you could go as far as to take the outside time up to 30 min. i wouldn't keep it out any longer than is necassary though.
i am not talking about the size of the dog now, but the size of the dog when it is grown. ( estimate) at 8 weeks it should be able to handle 45 min. spans without using the bathroom in the house. ( if you start trying to train the dog to use a certain room inside, or puppie pads you are only training the dog to go inside. do not do this) after about a week of the dog holding itself for 45 min. you should be able to move up to an hour or longer. if he starts having accidents then decrease the time until he can hold himself. after that's succesful, increas the time span again. if all goes well, by the time he reaches adulthood you should be able to trust him for atleast 4 hours. of course you will also want to start weaning him from going in the night.( it's very important that you take him out, even in the middle of the night, for the same reasons of not using puppie pads. you don't want him trained to go in the house) if it's possible try letting him sleep with you. it'll make him feel more like the family and will help him to want to keep his house ( your house) clean.
anytime that he has an accident simply bring him to it ( DO NOT call him to you, this will make him think he is in trouble for coming to you ) and show him the spot ( do not rub his face in it, and do not strike him, but do put his face close enough to it so that he can see what you are trying to point out) and stearnly say ''no'' or ''don't'' then depending on how he responds to this you might also try saying ''outside'' so that he begins to associate that with the outdoors. if he has accidents ( and chances are he will ) it's important that he not be able to smell the scent of his dirty deed. get some club soda or fizzy water to take out the smell. all you will have to do is to rub it into the spot and then soak it up with a paper towel. when this is done, go play with him. dogs are very social creatures. they need companions, and they also need to burn off energy. even if all you do to exercise him in your cold wyoming winters is to throw a ball down the hallway make sure that this becomes part of your everyday routine. enjoy the new puppy!

An 8 week old puppy needs to go out every two to three hours. After waking and after eating. I would keep the time he spends outside as short as possible if it is that cold. Once he relieves himself bring him in. You may need to get a puppy sweater to put on him to keep his body warm enough. (what kind of puppy is he, does he have a short coat or long coat- that could make a difference too.) Just make sure he isn't wet when he goes out. Keep him warm and dry.

45 minutes is perfect for an 8 week old puppy. If you don't want to have to take him outside inthe cold you could try puppie pads for him to go on inside but I personally don't like them I think Its just teaching dogs that it's okay to go inside. But if you do want to take him out you can buy a dog coat I have a lot of clothes for my chihuahua to keep him warm. Just stay outside long enough for him to go to the bathroom and then bring him straight back inside. Good Luck!

10-15 minutes is fine. As far as the time in between. After naps, eating and heavy play pups need to go out other than that every 3 hours.

You probably only need to be out for like 5 minutes, it's good that you're doing it frequently. If he's doing good with it you could try and wait longer~ unless he seems to be making notions of having to go out. Hey if he's cold~ he'll do his thing as quick as he can. Good Luck and don't forget to cuddle him to warm him back up when you go back inside.

he is adorable. I wouldn't take him out for more than a couple minutes and if he doesn't go he doesn't go. Put newspaper inside or puppy pads until it warms up enough to stay outside for longer.
