I visited Santiago and Easter Island. Easter Island is quite a trip (6 hour flight from Santiago) but it is a once in lifetime trip that everyone should do. Santiago reminded me of Denver. Beautiful mountains, nice residents, lots of history. I would go again. If you are a US citizen please be prepared to have US $100 in cash. You will need to pay an entry tax to enter Chile if you are a U.S. Citizen. Canadian, Australian, and Mexican citizens also pay an entry tax but the amounts vary for each nationality.

I have gone a couple of times. It is too broad a question.

I bicycled across the country once and went to snowborad once. It was great.

It would be very different if you wanted to visit cosmopopiltan cities for culture and nightlife. Chile is mostly for nature. I wouldn't go to have good nightlife, museums or even beaches. It would be far better to go to Brazil , for example, if you want those things.
