i own a repair shop,and this is more less a trim code on it ,its used also in helping to identify parts for them,that's why they sometimes they ask you if its an Le ,or an SE model, it was just an easier way to identify certain models with,and all cars even though they may be the same year and make will not be the same,like an SE ,or an Le,they may use different parts,good luck i hope this help,s.

they are used for the most part as a tool for sales. the letters indicate most often the level or cost of the vehicle. most often s means standard or basic . lx would be luxury and so on . there is not industry standard. in use of for the letters and companies can attach any letter to the car they wish .
after the letters are attached the package that the letter indicates the car has may be of use by the insurance company to know if you have a certain engine or transmission. that's about it

le ordinary economy basically. le lil bit better. look for f150's xl, xlt. "f-150" prob work truck
the xl.
ordinary 4x4
