personaly i like windows vista.......i was running xp pro ...i liked it to .....but vista gave windows a whole new lQQk....alot of people dont like vista because of the hardware and driver problems that there having.........i havent had any...i havent had i bug yet......vista is nothing more than "eye candy".....my comp doesnt run any slower ....it doesnt run any faster......everything is exactly the same except ..vista made windows look more professional....i guess all-in-all, if u wanna work on ur comp (like i do)and like to take on a challange (like i do) then get vista and see if u have problems and then rack ur brain trying to solve them....thats what i tried to do but i had no bugs or problems...they say that u have to have duel processors, a gig of ram and yadda yadda yadda, i just put vista premium on my kids comp...its a 1.8 gig gateway w/ a pentium 4...and 256 megs of ram, the only thing that ive added to that comp was a dvd drive.....vista runs fine on it....if ur like me...trial and error is the way to go...i tried and im happy w/ the product.....if u want the greatest lil clip on Vista go here.....its really pretty funny.....

I don't hate microsoft, but I had a bad experience with Millenium. It was total garbage. I bought it too soon. Wait a while. I had to install XP to interface with any other windows computer. Even 98 was better than Millenium. WAIT and see. It's too new.

The biggest drawback? Easy. IT's a Macro$loth product. It's always going to be full of bugs and not worth the hundreds of dollars.

It's pretty stable, but compatiblity with older hardware and software leaves something to be desired (even not so old hardware and software).
Unless you're having trouble with XP, or regularly fall victim to spyware, or have unsupported hardware and software - stay away from vista at this point.

1000ghz just to run. my 5 yr old computer only has 1100ghz total. computers are still only 2000 to 3000ghz with brand new processors. you need to have a dual core processor for it. and i hear it limits your abilities by not allowing internet piracy and such which is ok but i don't want needless restrictions placed on me by my operating system. it seems intrusive.

If you're stuck with Vista, a few good books here, including some used at good prices. I have purchased many used books at Amazon and all received so far have been in new condition.
