sounds simple, but go for a run, a walk, ride your bike; it'll help w/ your anxiety, but you need to talk to a friend or someone about what is bothering you, even if its a stranger online, you need to get it out of your system, then tomorrow when you wake up, you feel lighter

You CAN control your thoughts. If this is bothering you, I suggest getting counseling, concentrate on meditation to calm down and focus on good things, not whatever this thing is.
Many spiritual people believe these sort of mind "attacks" come because people allow their minds to wander. Don't allow your mind to do that. And they believe that with a good solid faith-based life, these mental attacks can be controlled or wiped out completely.
Some other helpful things; deep breathing exercises that relax you and help you to center your mind on something else. Aroma therapy helps too, lavender is known to relax. Understand what you can change in the world and do it. But also understand what you cannot change and live with that. Be content with your life, when you are not looking at what others have you can be more relaxed and happy in your own skin.

Meditation is the best medicine, an instant medicine for mental health as propagated by Swami Vishvas Ji.
In order to understand the approach and significance of Meditation, one must first understand what health signifies. Complete health is a symphony of both physical and mental well being. Considering physical health alone as one’s sole purpose is the highest form of ignorance, for it is very temporary. At the first instance of any adverse situation, if you are not mentally strong to face it, you will readily fall prey to stress that comes along with it and then, even all the physical health gained, will be lost.
A healthy body alone, is incapable of providing you the will power, tolerance and clarity one needs, to carry through difficult times. These are the qualities of a healthy mind. This is where Meditation comes into the picture. It is Meditation that equips you with a strong and sound mind.
Meditation makes you free from all identifications of the mind very easily. It frees you from the negativities of the mind such as stress, panic, reactions, anger, ego, fear, frustrations etc. and cultivates positive, beneficial and life- affirming mind-states, like patience, tolerance, perseverance, love, kindness, happiness- enabling a deeper understanding of self and others.
Meditation brings the body, mind, emotions and spirit- all of the many facets of human existence, into complete harmony, like a symphony orchestra. Yoga, daily walk and various other forms of exercises are quite useful to make the body fit for meditation but they are not meditation itself. Yoga and all these exercises are futile and insignificant if they are not meant for Meditation. The body is merely a carrier to reach the end- it is not the end.
Where a sound body loses- a sound mind wins. One must attain a sound mind through Meditation - a process made readily available to man by Nature itself. Swami Vishvas Ji explains, “Meditation is God’s Grace. It is to be shared, not sold. It can never be made a commercial commodity. Meditation is a subject of vibrations, not bookish knowledge. In fact it can be attained very easily in the company of a Spiritual Master, an awakened soul.”

When I have something bothering me I discipline my mind and think about some thing else. I try to read a book, watch a movie. I have recently rediscovered jig saw puzzles. They are good to concentrate your mind on and can crowd out the bad thoughts. But it is hard isn't it? Good luck.

First you need to identify the source of the problem and take control of it and not let it take control of you
