Because...it's the closest thing we have to magic.

Because they feel incomplete as a person and hope the other person will 'fill in the blanks' This unfortunately is the kind of love that leads to disaster and devastation.
I love my guy because while I am complete and happy with the person I was even when I was single, he brings out the best in me and makes me feel cherished. I do my best to bring out what's good in him and to let him know what a valuable and wonderful human being he is.
I think people underestimate how much hard work love can be and see it only as a panacea for all their hurts.

They are addicted to it. Have you ever thought about what our thoughts are made of? Our "emotions" are made of peptides. They also use the same glands and cells that heroine uses. So, to explain this in a nutshell:
Your brain, when experiencing "love" sends a chemical rush through out your body. Your cells are bombarded with these peptides for that emotion. Over time, these cells will get use to that emotion, and make more "room" for that same emotion, when that cell is reproducing.
So, your body does not want to give up that chemical rush. That is why you cry when someone you know dies, or you lose something you have had. You are experiencing a chemical withdrawl.
That is just a little bit, and may be a little confusing.
I recommend renting the movie titled "What The Bleep Do We Know". It explains it PERFECTLY!
Hope this makes sense!

Everyone has their opinion on love as well as their own reason for love too. The love you have stated sounds like the desperation attempts of people who have failed to obtain, and are now seeking it for they are desperately lonely. EIther that or it could be that they have had a crummy life and maybe love is the only thing that they believe can turn things around for them.
Some people want it for the experience and thrill, others are serious and are really looking for that life long partner who is still out there. The main people who want love desperately are those who never had it. It's kind of like that stupid Old Spice commercial that comes on tv.

It really is human nature, hey did you know that statistics show that people who have long lasting "relationships" are most likely to live longer than your average single lonely person? I just recently found that out myself and I was amazed, the "touch", feelings and emotions of intimacy does the heart some good, and sex is like a drug "literally" your mood totally changes afterwords. It's amazing, we need to be loved and touched with love and having someone to talk to and agree with you etc... it gives more comfort to the mind body and soul, it sounds weird but it's so very true, God bless!

It's human nature to want to be loved and accepted. People are social beings. We want to have someone that will always tell us we're doing a good job, even when the rest of the world says we suck. Social beings need that boost and are dependent upon others to some extent. Unfortunately I can't find words to have a more spiritual and meaningful answer at the moment.

I'm not sure I'm mature enough to answer that question, even as old as I am. lol All I can say is what my own reasons are, and they may sound odd. Here lately I've been craving that feeling of new romance, where love is new and full of hope, where the kisses are fresh and sweet, not so deep and worldly. Of course, I'm kind of a naive and more of a dreamer than most, anyway. hehe

The "sense of belonging" varies on every individual. Some are contented with the shallowest of love and some hunger for more. And its true that some people will go to a certain extent for the sake of loving or being loved.

Human nature is to take & give affection (LOVE). One who can't do it is a stone. But one should expect to give love before to take love. If one expects love without giving love is a fool.
And love may be related between any two hearts not just between a boy or a girl.

There is a God-shaped vacuum in every soul. People try to fill it with any kind of crazy idea. Only God can love you and understand you like no other human can.

Goes all the way back to the Garden of Eden really. Men and women (mankind) were not created to live alone but to have a "help-meet" at their side to share life and love. We are all hard-wired to find and share our lives with our soul-mates...
